Fresh faced look

One of my "young beautee's" inboxed me a request for a natural and fresh faced look.
Before I post this, let me clarify that I am 39 and my "fresh faced" days are over with.
With that being said I'm going to try and address what I think a natural and fresh faced look should be for a woman over 30.

I'll first begin with Skincare.

If your skin isn't healthy no amount of makeup in the world is going to "fake" a fresh faced glow. Most of us need a good daily cleanser and weekly exfoliation to remove dead skin and debris.

Secondly, a good mud mask can do wonders to clear pores of gunk and grime.
Pores appear smaller when they are clean. Skin appears more flawless.

Thirdly, a good skin moisterizer for use at bedtime is a must have. I personally also use a skin toner, an under eye hydrator, a skin perfecting serum, yada yada yada.

Makeup

Some rules of makeup to achieve a "fresh faced" look are:

Drop the heavy cream or liquid makeup. You can spot conceal only your blemishs and use a lightweight mouse foundation, a whipped cream foundation, or a cream foundation stick to cover the face. I use mineral loose or pressed powder and that provides me with adequate coverage.

Next, avoid rouge...puhleeze! Deep ruby lips and crimson cheeks do not say "fresh faced".

Also avoid bright and bold eyeshadow and lipstick colors. Stick to neutrals,  bronzes, peaches, etc. For "beautee's" with richer skin tones, opt for nice cinnamon brown and coppery brown shades. Skip full coverage or matte lipsticks. You will want your natural lipcolor to show thru. Keep it neat and clean.

These are some lipgloss shades that work for me:

Milani lipgloss in Bee Gone, Lip Saavy in Cocoa, Nicka K Lip Shimmer in #04 and #01

Instead of Blush or Rouge....bronzers can add a touch of color to your cheeks. I use my bronzer to contour my cheeks by applying it into the hollows and not the apples.

Pot of Gold bronzer in #02, Wet n Wild Ticket to Brazil, Versace Lights All Over Sun Glow #2001

Apply a natural or nuetral tone eyeshadow from the bottom lid up into the browbone.

Line your eyes with a dark brown liner and use one to two coats of mascara.

Fira Diana Quad, Physicians Formula Earth Minerals Eyeshadow Quad

Optional, finish up with a highlighting powder or cream across the top of the cheeks.
That's a Kim Kardashian makeup artist trick. I luv bronzers and highlighters!

Everyday Eye and Mini product review

This bronze and brown eyeshadow look is my everyday eye look. I like switch up between gold,  gray, or silver...but I always add  black in the outer corner to step it up some.

For this look I used Nicka K HD eyeshadow in #3016, a dark bronze color.

I used a sallygirl baked shadow in warm brown shade on my eyelid #388124

 And I deepend the outer corner with L.A. Colors mineral eyeshadow in Black

LOTD: Mardi Gras Royalty

For this look I used Royal blue and Royal purple.
I applied several different purple and blues until I got the desired result.
I used the Miss Rose Palette  ($20).
For the inner corners I applied LA Splash creamy shadow base in enlightened.
I used a frosty beige highlight on my browbone.
I used the same purple eyeshadow from the Miss Rose palette with an angled eyeliner brush to line my eyes. Then I applied black mascara.

LOTD: Purple Me

I scored at CVS Pharmacy tonight so I decided to do another LOTD.

I purchased the Color Theory 50 Eyeshades Palette.

I know it looks cheap but I bought my 12 year old one last Christmas and I've been trying to steal hers ever since; the colors are so pigmented and easy to blend. She wouldn't give  it over so I decided to look for it again this holiday season.

I also purchased two Wet n Wild lipsticks: A matte fushia in 511 B and a shimmery magenta in 521 A. I used the 511 B for this look. I also scored a nail polish in Sparked, a pretty metallic pink glitter, they were 69 cents each on sale this week.

 After applying NYX eyeshadow base in white, I used 3 purples and 2 blues from the Color Theory palette. I blended the purples together and applied it with my fingers to my eyelid then applied the blues into the crease. The makeup is very soft and doesn't work well with brushes or sponge tip applicators. The plus side is it comes off  the fingers easily when you wash your hands.

I matched the makeup with my fav magenta sateen blouse and purple chandelier earrings.  I love bright colors for the holidays and satiny jewel toned blouses.
